Abstract
Games as a teaching tool have been found to enhance learning, motivate students, provide immediate feedback and develop social skills . Through the use of games high student interest is developed by active learning, revitalizing the educational program.
Teacher made games are developed to reinforce the primary (grades one through three) mat skills . Eight major company's textbooks were used to compile the skills taught. Games were developed for each of the basic skills using ideas from books, original ideas, children's interests and suggestions .
Included for each game is a rationale, materials needed to construct the game, directions for playing the game and a illustration of the game. In addition there is a skill test made to be used as a pre and post test for each skill.
