Abstract
Physical education in early childhood should be organized, directed, and purposeful. With this criterion as a guideline herewith is offered a general, comprehensive physical education curriculum which includes guidelines in the areas of physical development with a specific proposed physical fitness curriculum which offers a sequential plan of instruction related to the development of the young child and makes available to parents, teachers, and physical education directors, a coordinated program which is useful when working with young children. To validate the proposal, recent literature in the field of study was examined, experts in the field of sports, medicine, and physical education were interviewed, and a variety of programs were studied.
