Abstract
The purpose of this project is to create a costume to wear from the 1940s. I will immerse myself in a time period when people often made their own clothing so I can better understand having a personal connection to the items we wear. I will shop for and use materials that would have been used during the 1940s and will use sewing techniques that would have been popular during that time. I also plan to abide by the regulations that were in place for clothing production during World War II. I chose this time because it's one of the periods I will study this term in my History of Costume course but it's also one of my favorite eras and I know I will enjoy researching it. Because I am an online student, there will be a video documenting my process and the final product.
