Abstract
The project idea stems from my work as a clinical instructor in nurse anesthesia. I have noticed that there is a great disparity between the didactic work done in the classroom and the clinical work done in the operating rooms. Instead of applying the classroom material to the actual case work, thereby making it important and meaningful to the student, the link between the two areas is virtually ignored. The aim in developing my project is to remedy this situation. In designing a curriculum for obstetrical anesthesia, I will attempt to utilize teaching methodologies which will not encourage rote memorization of material but rather the understanding of concepts and the use of critical thinking skills to make use of these concepts in clinical anesthesia.
