Abstract

The problem of spontaneity in a Jungian art therapy group is addressed in terms of the integration of intuitive/ unconscious processes with the more cognitive aspects of art therapy. An explanation of basic Jungian theory is given, focusing on the process of active imagination, which forms the theoretical framework of the study. Conclusions are based on phenomenological data in conjunction with the writer's cognitive and subjective experiences while running the group.
