Abstract

The purpose of this study was to produce an effective newsletter representing a group of independent Christian Church missionaries in Mexico. This project became a reality while pursing the Master of Science Degree in Business Communications at Lindenwood College.

In this project, I will provide as background the courses of study followed which provided a foundation for this undertaking. Continued education keeps an individual expanding his/her horizons in more areas of life than simply fulfilling employment requirements.

The unique autonomous structure of independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ finds the communication process of most congregations and missionaries being performed by volunteers. The churches and missionaries need to apply good business principles in every facet of their program, especially communications and public relations.

A newsletter becomes a vital link in maintaining interest and support for missionaries and supporters. This study will consider the reason for producing a newsletter, the target audience, and cultural preferences that will affect its content.

A brief section on evaluating newsletters precedes the consideration of current communications from various churches and missionaries. This review provided the guidelines f or producing a consolidated newsletter with regularity within a very modest budget.

Technical considerations involved in producing a newsletter are presented and followed with a section on the actual process of accomplishing the task.

This lengthy process should demonstrate the need, advantage, and comparative ease of producing a quality newsletter for a professional or volunteer within an organization to keep its constituents aware of the "who, what, where, when and why." Thus, COMUNICACION (Spanish for communication).
