Abstract
The writer, Benjamin Reeves, updates George Sibley on logistical issues affecting their upcoming expedition. Mail delivery has been unreliable, delaying communication. Reeves discusses personnel matters, including adding Col. Logan if timing allows, enrolling George Wert as an interpreter, and replacing unavailable workers with Stephen Cooper, whose knowledge of the region will be useful. He agrees that traders may accompany the party if they follow regulations. Reeves notes concerns about meeting tribes for negotiations, expresses urgency about the wagons arriving so they can depart before the season is too far along, and comments on local disappointment from men not chosen to join the expedition. He dismisses accusations of political favoritism and hopes misunderstandings involving Mr. Boggs won’t harm Sibley’s friendships. He closes with brief remarks on his family’s health.
