Abstract
This past year was the second annual Midwest Scholars program in the Midwest Academy of Management. The goal of this program is to honor the significant accomplishments of distinguished Midwest scholars, and to allow the members of Midwest Academy to learn from their experience and wisdom. This article is a reflection by Dr. Andrew H. Van de Ven, one of the 2014 Midwest Academy of Management Scholars, who shares his past reflections as well as new insight on current issues in the evolving field of leadership and organizational studies, and how his renowned work on “engaged scholarship” is relevant to these challenges.
