The Confluence
Volume 4, Issue 3 (2026)
Editor's Notes
Welcome to the spring 2026 issue of The Confluence.
The Confluence has a long and rich history, first published as a creative writing journal in 1969 at Lindenwood College. In 2009 under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Smith, it shifted focus to American and Missouri history. Today, the journal showcases collaborative work from Lindenwood University faculty and students, as well as solo-authored graduate and undergraduate scholarship across all disciplines.
It is a privilege to take on the role of Editor for The Confluence from Dr. Nichole Torbitzky, whose leadership over the past five years has shaped the journal into what it is today.
This spring, we are pleased to feature a variety of interdisciplinary work that showcases the breadth of scholarship at LU. This issue features work from both graduate and undergraduate students that examine art, literature, cinema and human behavior. As we continue a proud 57-year tradition, we invite all students to submit their scholarly work for the Fall 2026 issue.
Sincerely, Dr. Sara V. A. Kaufman Editor, the Confluence
