Author Bio
Tara Vansell, Lindenwood's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Lab Manager and Instructor of Geography, has been teaching the GIS courses at Lindenwood since 2011. Most recently, Vansell earned her certification as a Geospatial Science and Technology Educator. Professor Vansell was one of 22 educators chosen to participate in the inaugural cohort completing the certification pathway between January 2020 and October 2020 through the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence (GeoTech Center). Vansell holds a M.A. in Urban Planning and Real Estate Development from Saint Louis University (2006) and a B.A. in Geography with a GIS emphasis along with a History Minor from the University of Missouri – Columbia (2002). Before working in the classroom Vansell spent several years working in the GIS industry for companies such as Surdex and SAIC.
