Lawrence F. Farrar, a career diplomat, served in Japan (multiple tours), Germany, Norway, and Washington, D.C. Short term assignments took him to more than 30 countries. Lawrence also lived in Japan as a graduate student and as a naval officer. A Minnesota resident, Lawrence has degrees from Dartmouth and Stanford.
