Abstract
Was there a relationship between local police control of private security and tension and misunderstanding between them? Did the above tension and misunderstanding interfere with positive police/ security interface? It was hypothesized that there was a relationship between local police control of private security, tension, and misunderstanding between them which interfered with positive police/security interface.
The central idea of this thesis was : tension and misunderstanding between police/security could be lessened or eliminated by the passage of uniform state legislation. One purpose of this paper was to provide food for thought and further research in contrast to providing definitive answers. A second purpose of this paper was to explore the police/security interface in terms of tension and misunderstanding between them and whether or not that tension and misunderstanding interferes with positive police/security interface.
