Abstract
Various techniques have been used by many rural communities in an effort to recruit and maintain physicians. However, evidence indicates that if the doctor procurement program gets the community involved, results will surely follow. The community effort basically is the one factor that helps recruit and maintain physician manpower to their community. The doctor procurement committee is the foundation to form a solid structure that shows the physician that there is cooperation, dedication, desire and a sense or belonging. It is these factors, along with others discussed in this thesis that convinces the physician to relocate in the rural community.
