Abstract
This paper uses the Feminist literary theory to examine the roles and presentation of characters in the fairy tale “Rapunzel” and how the women reinforce patriarchal ideals by conforming to either angelic or monstrous behaviors.

Amber Budd is a fifth-year undergraduate majoring in English Creative Writing. After graduation in May 2025, she will pursue an MFA in Creative Writing at Lindenwood University, and then a PhD in English. She plans to be a fiction author and college professor once she has finished her education.
