Karen Maceira is a native of New Orleans and holds an MFA from Penn State University. A past Ruth Lilly Poetry Convocation participant, she has published poems in numerous journals such as The Beloit Poetry Journal, Louisiana Literature, The New Orleans Review, Negative Capability, and the Christian Science Monitor. She has also had reviews in The Harvard Review and essays in the Hollins Critic and The Journal of College Writing. She currently teaches high school English in a suburb of New Orleans.
