Abstract

This presentation analyzed the ways in which male and female cookbook authors construct ethos in their text. Using the assumption that authorial ethos is one of the most important aspects of a cookbook, this preliminary study compares texts with respect to the methods the author uses to construct his or her own authority as an expert cook within the front matter of the publication.
